Envirolution 2011

Platt Fields Park became a defining event for Envirolution.  The sun was out; musicians came with songs written especially for the event; the youths of the BMX track immersed themselves in the bike customization and over 50 organisations offered a programme bursting with interaction.  There were a lot of people using the park, including local families, who came over to see what was happening and to take part, which helped to make a success of a day that was built on the passion of many individuals.

On the 5th day of Envirolution…

… We gave you ‘Greening Urban Spaces’

As part of our Hot Topics Zone we will be bringing you the cities leading voices in how we are, and can, green our cities spaces.

Epoch 6 working from their Salford base are developing innovative ecological  solutions to how was can put some green into the city.

This collection of individuals are at the heart of turning Manchester into a Garden City

We will also be joined by Manchester Urban Farming Foundation, who are creating roof top growing spaces.

You will have the chance to join in these discussions in a welcoming cafe style environment.

We would like to know what areas of your city you would like to GREEN?

Bring your thoughts to Envirolution, but in the meantime tweet them using #EnviroPledge and post them on the wall of the Envirolution Facebook Page

Here is some inspiration from Epoch 6

The time is nearly upon us and we are approaching the Envirolution weekend.  We will be bringing you a twelve day countdown that will tease you with an insight into the treat we have in store for the 18th June.

We have also launched our EnviroPledge that you will be able to get involved with in in the countdown to Envirolution.

16 days to go…

… A thought on Oxfam, after they kindly gave me some cake at their picnic in Piccadilly Gardens.  The get together was to promote a new campaign called GROW, which is looking at how to fix the broken food system.

Oxfam will be at Envirolution on the 18th June.  They have also provided us with a marquee, so when you see the structure with Oxfam branding please say a big thanks to them.

We are hoping that the Oxfam team will also be able to come and bring the ‘Robin Hood Tax’ debate to our Hot Topics Zone.
