Contact 2010

The morning came and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful, and dry, autumn day. The event went smoothly with a good day had by all, including all of the jolly folk who helped organise the event.

The excitement got underway with a brilliant Visioning 2030 workshop hosted by TCM, which was attended by some very enthusiastic people who contributed to an excellent workshop that explored just what a community means to them.

Whilst outside Pow Wow Pedal Power keep the mood happy with their pedal powered sound system.

Arc Space were putting the finishing touches to their Earthship inspired eco-build.

Manchester Friends of the Earth and Abundance were finding volunteers to jump on one of their bikes to provide the man power need to produce a delicious smoothie.

Kids with Hooves were beginning their Live Recycling where they were turning a ordinary bin into a recycled masterpiece, General Waste.

The exquisite Jezabeleza opened up proceedings inside the Contact, playing her unique keyboard songs to get people in the mood as they began to enter Envirolution.

The highlights of the day were bountiful from the low carbon food that was truly delicious to the world premier of The Kindling Trust’s ‘What is Sustainable Food?’ film, to the musical delights of Ben Playford and Dan Cropper to the latin-styled spectacular of Solar Salsa, and the magnificent finale of the Junk Shop and Clothes with a Conscious Sustainable Fashion Show.
